ALLIANCE FOR NATURAL HEALTH CALL FOR AN URGENT SCIENTIFIC INQUIRY INTO THE HPV VACCINE USED IN THE UK

The Alliance for Natural Health today is calling on all Members of Parliament in the UK to help stimulate an independent and transparent scientific inquiry on the safety of the HPV vaccine.

Reports of serious and even lethal adverse reactions to the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) vaccine, Cervarix, manufactured by GlaxoSmithKline, raises grave concern over the safety of the vaccine.  While its closely related vaccine, Gardasil, manufactured by Merck, is recognised by the US Centers for Disease Control (CDC) to trigger severe reactions, namely hospitalisation, permanent disability, life-threatening illness or death, equivalent data in the UK appears not to be publicly available.

In addition, the tragic case of 14-year-old Natalie Morton’s death just two hours following her vaccination, which was considered by the pathologist in her post mortem as being completely independent of the vaccine, has raised further questions in the minds of many about the accuracy of reporting.

The role of the HPV vaccines in the development of disabling symptoms in the cases of Stacey Jones (18), Rebecca Ramagge (13), Lisa Wickenden (13), Carly Steel (13) and Ashleigh Cave (13), appears to be unresolved and circumstantial evidence would suggest that Cervarix may have been at least a contributing factor in their respective conditions.

Dr Diane Harper of the University of Missouri, who was directly involved in clinical trials on HPV vaccines, is among a growing number of scientists who have publicly expressed their concerns over the vaccines’ safety.

Cervarix was approved for use in the European Union in September 2007 for the prevention of precancerous changes in the cervix in girls and women between the age of 10 and 25.  The vaccination programme started in September 2008 for girls aged 12 to 13, delivered in three injections over 6 months.  There is a new, accelerated catch-up programme for girls aged 15 to 18 years starting in September 2009, due to complete by end of the academic year 2010.

Given the number of girls, the lack of transparency on the frequency and type of adverse reactions, as well as the possibility of long-term effects on the reproductive system, the Alliance for Natural Health is requesting all Members of the UK Parliament to put pressure on the Government to initiate an independent and fully transparent scientific inquiry on the short and long term effect of the vaccine.

The Alliance for Natural Health is an international campaign organisation comprised of scientists, doctors, lawyers, practitioners and consumers, working to promote natural and sustainable approaches to health through the use of ‘good science’ and ‘good law’.

Executive Director of the Alliance for Natural Health, Robert Verkerk, stated: “Young girls in the UK—as well as their parents and guardians—deserve to have the full facts on the risks and benefits of this vaccine to help them make properly informed choices. The NHS position is that the vaccine is safe, but the facts would suggest otherwise.  Presently, there are no adequate data available on the comparative risks of Cervarix and Gardasil. Neither is there adequate information on the factors which may predispose certain individuals to serious adverse reactions, nor about the duration and effectiveness of immunity following single and multiple vaccinations.  It is in the public interest—and of utmost urgency—that these key questions are answered by an independent scientific review panel and are made public.”

In a July 9th story, ‘WHO clears Glaxo’s Cervarix for developing world’ Reuters reported that  GlaxoSmithKline’s (GSK.L) cervical cancer vaccine Cervarix has won a green light from the World Health Organisation (WHO) for use in developing countries, although how the shot will be paid for has yet to be resolved.

WHO “prequalification” —  a key hurdle for gaining wider use of Glaxo’s HPV vaccine Cervarix, an necessary endorsement for UN agencies and the non-profit GAVI Alliance to purchase the vaccine, and Glaxo said on Thursday it hoped the move would help speed access to Cervarix globally.

And Glaxo quickly followed up, saying that the company plans to explore new financing mechanisms that would ensure broad availability. “We’re exploring a variety of distribution partnerships to ensure Cervarix will protect women and girls around the globe,” Jean Stephenne, head of vaccines, tells Reuters.

WHO had already approved Gardasil and the Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization, a broad umbrella group of international health organizations, has made access to cervical cancer vaccines a top priority. Dan Thomas, a GAVI spokesman stated “We’re very eager to offer women in developing countries these vaccines because without early screening, they are arguably more vulnerable to cervical cancer.”

It’s likely that Glaxo will work out discount prices for global health agencies and nonprofits, a common avenue for Big Pharma companies selling expensive therapies in poor countries.

LONDON (Reuters) – GlaxoSmithKline Plc’s Cervarix is the first product of its kind to show it protects against the five most common cervical cancer-causing viruses, Europe’s biggest drug company said in a statement on Tuesday.

A study, published in Tuesday’s issue of The Lancet, said that as well as protecting against the two most common virus types, the vaccine also provides protection against the next three most common cancer-causing virus types.

Glaxo said the additional efficacy could translate into approximately 11 to 16 percent extra protection against cervical cancer over and above the protection afforded by efficacy against the two most common types alone.

“This is really good news for primary prevention of cervical cancer as it indicates the vaccine could offer women additional protection … beyond what had at first been anticipated,” said Thomas Breuer, head of global clinical R&D at GSK Biologicals.  Click here for the full article published by Reuters.

JayaJan Pharmaceutical Research in India was one of the companies with which Merck had a contract to test Gardasil. Like most of the industry, Merck increasingly outsources its clinical trials to Contract Research Organizations (CROs) in areas of the world where trial subjects are plentiful, operating costs are low, and regulations lax.

Some $285 million worth of clinical trials are outsourced to CROs in India, according to biopeer.com.  These CROs are a booming $15 billion industry whose revenues are rising at 15 percent a year.

“CROs are known for their speed and efficiency; they can complete a clinical trial in two-thirds the time a drug company can, shaving months off the process and offering $120 million to $150 million in increased revenue per drug.” Sam Bidwell an executive with Quintiles a U.S.-based CRO told Nature. “Of the top 30 best-selling drugs, we’ve touched every one.”

Critics point out that CROs can come with built-in problems. Conflicts of interest can arise when CROs are paid royalties only after a drug is approved rather than being paid a set fee that is independent of how safe or effective the drug turns out to be. Problems can also arise because CROs know that favorable findings mean that research into a test drug will continue, and they may also believe that results that please the hiring corporation can lead to future contracts. “Companies know that the farther the compound moves through the research cycle, the more money they can raise,” Nature reported.

Merck spokesperson Amy Rose refused say how many trials Merck contracted to CROs or what percentage of the Gardasil subjects these contractors recruited in the Third World. She also refused to specify how, or even if, the company oversees CROs.

Many consumers assume that the FDA carefully monitors CROs. But the agency hobbled by under-funding, politicization, and dependence on industry fees has few resources to assess foreign trials and relies on drug companies.

In the case of the JayaJan Pharmaceutical Research Gardasil cervical cancer vaccine clinical trials, the FDA was forced to rely on the veracity of one of the largest pharmaceutical companies in the world, Merck & Co, Inc.

In the past, Merck & Co, who refers to itself as a global pharmaceutical research company, has allegedly falsified, suppressed, or misrepresented the results of clinical trials to make some of its products seem more safe than they really are.

Merck supports the Fast Food Nation by promoting drugs that treat ailments associated with bad eating habits. Drugs prescribed for high cholesterol, hypertension, and heart failure are among Merck’s most profitable product lines. Merck employed 59,800 people worldwide in 2007, and reported $24.2 billion in sales. In October 2008, the New York Times reported that Merck announced plans to cut 7,200 jobs, or 12 percent of its workforce. The layoffs are not in response to the financial crisis, but rather the result of falling drug and vaccine sales. As their patents expire, large pharmaceutical companies are faced with skyrocketing competition from cheap generics. The job cuts are expected to save the company up to $4.2 billion in operating costs over the next four years, though they will need to spend up to $2 billion in reorganization and severance costs.

Cost cutting did not extend to Merck’s ongoing political lobbying to secure state mandated HPV vaccination programs. If a vaccine is mandated by a State or Federal agency, a victim of an adverse vaccine event CAN NOT sue Merck directly. The injured individual or their surviving kin must go through Vaccine Court that has a set limit on damages. Totally sweet for Big Pharma who has been known to rush a product to market, and totally sucks for the citizens who trusted the governments Drug safety oversight process to protect them and their children.

According to opensecrets.com, during the 2008 election cycle, Merck & Co’s political action committee gave $572,499 to federal candidates. Fifty-one percent went to Democrats, 49 percent went to Republicans. Of course additional money was spent through PACs, Committees, and plain brown wrapper. How much money, to whom, to what apparent result, is a topic for a future Blog.

Green America has reported that Merck has repeatedly violated water pollution regulations and has fought against measures meant to improve water quality near its manufacturing facilities.  I don’t know how the FDA Honcho’s feel about Merck recent history in the “Good Corporate Citizen” department, but personally, I would be inclined to check for my ring, watch and wallet, if I ever bumped into a Merck exec prowling the halls of ant Local, State or Federal office.

Old school journalism would have described the Reuters story titled ‘Allergic Reactions to Gardasil Uncommon’, as “having legs”. The ‘Next-Gen’ journalist would describe the story as ‘going viral’.

The implied “No-Worries Mate” message was carried in Newspapers, Blogs and Journals across the Commonwealth and though out the US and EU. As I read the various accounts, I tracked the story back to the original published study, I wanted to know how many study participants, followed over what period of time, at what location, and who designed and funded the study and why.

The study was conducted in Australia, in 2007 and reported in The British Medical Journal in Dec 2008. Sharon Choo of the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne reported that during 2007 more than 380,000 doses of the vaccine had been administered in schools in Victoria and South Australia under the Australian immunization program. Choo and colleagues noted some components of Merck’s treatment — such as aluminum salts and yeast — have been associated with allergic reactions. In the British Medical Journal article, published in late 2008, she and her colleges are quoted as saying,  “Our clinical recommendation is that females with suspected hypersensitivity to the quadrivalent vaccine should be evaluated before receiving more doses, and any challenges with the same vaccine should be carried out in a supervised setting.”

In the British Medical Journal Article, Dr Sharon Choo and her Australian colleagues described the results of clinical evaluation, skin tests, and vaccine challenge in schoolgirls with suspected hypersensitivity to 4vHPV. “Thirty-five schoolgirls with suspected hypersensitivity reactions including urticaria (hives), generalised rash, angioedema (swelling of subcutaneous tissues) and anaphylaxis were reported to specialised immunisation services and 25 agreed to be referred to paediatric allergy centres for further evaluation.”

A detailed account of the reactions was noted including previous doses of the vaccine, time and severity of reaction, and previous clinical history. Skin prick tests of the quadrivalent and bivalent HPV vaccines were carried out, and vaccine challenges were administered intramuscularly. The schoolgirls were followed-up by telephone one week after the subsequent dose and any adverse events were recorded.

The researchers report that 19 girls had skin testing of the quadrivalent vaccine and all were negative. Seventeen of the 18 girls subsequently challenged with the quadrivalent vaccine tolerated further doses. One reported limited urticaria (hives) four hours after the vaccine was given.

Choo and associates reported that only three of the 25 evaluated schoolgirls had probable hypersensitivity to the quadrivalent vaccine, and conclude that true hypersensitivity is uncommon. They point out that suspected hypersensitivity reactions such as hives are often “idiosyncratic” and do not increase the risk of adverse reactions in subsequent vaccinations.

Immunisation specialist Dr Jim Buttery, who works at the Royal Children’s Hospital, declared Gardasil safe but said all adverse effect reports are taken seriously. The authors recommend that girls with suspected hypersensitivity to the quadrivalent vaccine should be evaluated before receiving more doses, and call for research into the mechanisms of hypersensitivity to the vaccine.

What is my take away?

OK, I’ve read the British Medical Journal article several times, as well as all the spin-off articles I could track and I have reached a conclusion and still have several questions.

My conclusion is that Doctor Choo and her colleagues were on the right track in 2007. Young women and girls need to be tested for hypersensitivity before being vaccinated with Gardasil.

Just reading the ‘FDA-approved product sheet Merck provides for Gardasil gets you there. The Gardasil product sheet clearly states:

“WHO SHOULD NOT RECEIVE GARDASIL?
Anyone who:
Is allergic to any of the ingredients in the vaccine. A list of ingredients can be found at the end of this leaflet.”

The only way to know if a girl is allergic to Gardasil’s chemical amalgam would be to test her BEFORE the shot.

Based on the number of adverse reactions being reported around the world, it is time to step back and add a pre-vaccination safety procedure.

Merck has injected a sense of urgency around the HPV vaccine, that is simply not justified based the ‘developed’ world’s experience with Cervical cancer. In the developed world cervical cancer is rare, detectable and treatable inexpensively with current technology. The only rational for the red-hot hurry is Merck’s shareholders. In the undeveloped world, were cervical cancer is still a very real danger to women, Gardasil is too costly to deploy. It makes far more sense to find ways to get affordable cervical cancer screening and treatment to women in the developing countries, than spend Billions in the developed world chasing down, the possibility of a cancer that is already under control.

In my opinion, Dr Choo had the right question, but didn’t pursue it long enough.

With all due respect to Doctor Choo and colleagues, when did a “Study of 25 Australian girls” that indicated 3-girls with suspected hypersensitivity to the vaccine out of the hundreds of thousands of does administered become a “Study”? If this were consumer survey, 25 would be considered an insignificant sampling, considering some 380,000 doses of the vaccine had been administered in schools in Victoria and South Australia at the time of the “Vaccine Hypersensitivity Study”.

Professor Ian Frazer at University of Queensland is a co-developer of the cervical cancer vaccine. Australia was one of the first countries to roll out a national cervical cancer immunization campaign using Gardasil. According to published government statistics, 700 new cases of cervical cancer are reported each year in Australia, and in 2005 cervical cancer led to the deaths of 216 women The Australia government has strongly supported the National immunization program, and has given every indication that they fully intend to administer the HPV Vaccine to all females aged 12 to 26 in the country.

As of second quarter 2009, approximately 4.7 million doses of Gardasil have been distributed in Australia.  According to official Australian government reports, there have been 1,304 suspected adverse events following vaccination with Gardasil. Australian health officials have used the following talking points to describe the Gardasil-related adverse events. American readers will recognize them — we have heard them all before.

• With this number of people receiving the vaccine, even if all are healthy and young, some serious events can be expected within days or hours of vaccination by chance alone and unrelated to vaccination.

• No vaccine is completely without side effects, and so adverse events following immunization are carefully monitored in Australia and regularly reviewed by expert advisory groups.

• A significant volume of reporting of adverse events is often seen shortly after the introduction of a new, widely used vaccine because of the higher degree of vigilance and lack of familiarity with the new product. Many of the reported events (such as headache, feeling dizzy or unwell) may be equally common in people of the same age who have not received the vaccine.

• An April 1, 2009 government report stated that of the 1,304 suspected adverse reactions reported in Australia following vaccination with Gardasil, the great majority have been mild and common problems such as soreness, swelling, or redness at the injection site. Most of the adverse reactions that have been reported are well recognized and listed in the Gardasil Product Information.

What Non-Government Sources Are Reporting

The unofficial reports differ drastically from the reassuring tone of the Australian Health Officials.

In a December 2007 article in the Heraldsun.com.au, (Herald and Weekly Times) Natali Tkacruk Sikora reported that, “ Almost 500 girls have had adverse reactions such as seizures, rashes and paralysis after taking cervical cancer vaccine Gardasil in Australia since it was released in April.”

The article went on to report that as of November 30, 2007, “there had been 496 adverse reaction reports to the Therapeutic Goods Association (Australian equivalent to the FDA Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System) with the HPV vaccine as the sole suspected cause.” Tkacruk Sikora reported that in the U.S. more than 2220 reports were lodged with VAERS in past 12-month period, including controversial reports of more than seven deaths.

In response to the Herald Sun article, University of Queensland Professor and Gardasil co-creator, Ian Frazer, the Australian Health Department and vaccine manufacturer CSL, dismissed allegations of associated deaths in the US, claiming the women died of unrelated causes. Professor Frazer, a leading immunologist and former Australian of the Year, blamed anti-immunization groups for exaggerating data as a scare tactic against inoculation. (I guess now would be a bad time to bring up Merck’s award winning ‘Scare tactics commercials’ touting the clear and immediate danger of cervical cancer…a cancer that is detectable, treatable and who’s rate of incidence and death has been steady falling for the past 50 years; ever since the invention of and wide spread deployment of the PAP test and minimally invasive cervical cancer treatments.) The article quoted “unnamed leading experts” who defended the benefits of Gardasil and dismissed controversial reports of overseas deaths as unrelated and fictitious. Apparently the “unnamed leading experts” have no problem with obfuscation. I hate to rain all over Doctor Frazer’s patent royalty checks, but healthy, vibrant, American girls have died after receiving the Gardasil vaccine. American girls have suffered critical illness post Gardasil injection. Girls and young women around the world are suffering adverse events after being injected with the HPV-vaccine.

Right now the only common denominator to the injury and death of these young women is the injection of the HPV vaccine, Gardasil. If Professor Ian Frazer, the Australian Health Department and vaccine manufacturer CSL, and the un-named leading experts have proof that the HPV vaccine, Gardasil is not the causative factor, than share it with the parents of the girls who have already been effected and educate the parents of the girls you want to vaccinate.

The injection of Garasil should require a signed informed consent form, a complete medical work-up to determine predisposition to genetic disease, a current assessment of the girls immune system and to quote Choo’s recommendation from the BMJ; “Our clinical recommendation is that females with suspected hypersensitivity to the quadrivalent vaccine should be evaluated before receiving more doses, and any challenges with the same vaccine should be carried out in a supervised setting.”

Until that series of prudent medical protocol is practiced, Australian parents can expect to hear the same bureaucratic babble as the parents in the other Commonwealth counties, America, and the EU.

The Therapeutic Goods Association (TGA) while refusing to reveal detailed results said, “Gardasil was monitored by the US FDA and Centres for Disease Control, and in Australia by the Adverse Drug Reaction Advisory Committee, the Australian Technical Advisory Group on Immunization and the National Immunization Committee.”

The TGA’s Dr Rohan Hammett said: “All . . . advised that current rates of adverse reactions are consistent with those expected with any vaccine.”

THE Scottish Government has been urged to review its cervical cancer vaccination programme and follow the lead of Germany, which ordered experts to show hard evidence the jab is effective and safe in the long-term.

The International Coalition of Advocates for the People (ICAP) – a group raising concerns of the safety and efficacy of Cervarix and its rival, Gardasil, to health ministers and researchers worldwide – want a thorough investigation into the vaccine.

The organisation successfully lobbied the health minister and medical experts in Germany. Now the country’s Federal Joint Committee, which decides on the formula for the country’s social insurance system, has called for all recommendations on Cervarix and Gardasil to be revised and demanded a new report based on detailed evidence.

Yesterday, The Scotsman revealed more than 150 girls in Scotland have suffered adverse reactions after receiving the vaccine, which was introduced last autumn and is being given to all girls in S2 and to girls in S5 and S6 in a catch-up programme.

Campaigners are concerned about the long-term effectiveness and safety of the vaccine. Six families in England are taking legal action against the maker of  Cervarix, GlaxoSmithKline,,  after serious side-effects they claim are linked to the vaccine.

Freda Birrell and Christina England from ICAP said: “We would welcome a decision by the Scottish and UK governments to put a hold on Cervarix and to carry out a similar thorough investigation as is now being carried out in Germany.”

“GlaxoSmithKline admits ‘there are no data on the use of Cervarix in subjects with impaired immune responsiveness’, that ‘duration of protection has not been fully established’ and ‘Timing and need of booster has not been investigated.’

“So why was a vaccination programme in Scotland and England introduced before this was researched?”

The review in Germany came after a team of 13 experts studied all publicly available data on the effectiveness of both vaccines on the market and found the evidence lacking.

Dr Ansgar Gerhardus, a public health expert from the University of Bielefeld in north-west Germany, was part of the team.

He said: “We did not go into further details regarding Cervarix, simply because the evidence base was even more sparse than for Gardasil.

“We did not find any results on the overall protection against pre-cancerous lesions – which would be a relevant endpoint (ie, a way of judging a link to cervical cancer] for individual girls as well as from a public-health perspective. Only in a recent study have selected data for Cervarix been presented. However, many relevant data are still missing, so no conclusions should be drawn until they are made available.”

This statement has not been scientifically challenged.

ICAP added: “We believe the health and welfare of young people is of paramount importance and would welcome a delay in the Cervarix vaccination programme until all avenues are thoroughly investigated.”

The Scottish Government and GlaxoSmithKline insist detailed tests were carried out and that any reactions to Cervarix are within the range expected of a mass vaccination programme.

The message was addressed:  To the esteemed members of the Robert Koch Institute and Health Minister of Germany,

And the simple message read:

The attached paper has been prepared by concerned individuals from the United Kingdom, United States of America and Holland in regards to the safety and efficacy of the HPV vaccines.

We intend to prove that the serious health concerns that are becoming evident due to Gardasil and Cervarix around the world are valid.  You will see that the studies themselves will prove the lack of efficacy and the increased risks to the health of our young people.  Also entered into this report are communications with the lead researcher for both Gardasil and Cervarix.  Included are reports of young girls and women who have had serious adverse effects and deaths with unknown etiology from America and Europe.   Attached is a video of Karen Maynor who lost her daughter after receiving the Gardasil vaccination.  This mother is trying to come to terms with the fact that the post mortem determination is unknown.

We also want you to know that an inquiry was done by the researchers in the United States as to the overall health and activity level of the affected young people pre-vaccination.  The results of the inquiry and investigation that ensued are startling.  It has been determined that the young people most likely to be affected are very active, athletic and high achievers or have a serious weight problem.  A subset of the affected received the vaccination when they were at the pre-menstrual time of their cycle.  What these three groups have in common is that estrogen, which we know protects the brain from stroke, is decreased leaving the brain more susceptible to damage of the capillaries and the neurotoxin Aluminum.

We are aware that you are questioning the effectiveness of Cervarix.   Thousands of young girls and women are experiencing severe adverse events and their quality of life is vastly diminished around the world from Gardasil and Cervarix HPV vaccines.  Could you please also look at the bigger picture in regards to the safety of our children and take into account the many comments which have been made.

We do so hope you will read our submission and if you wish to ask any questions of the authors, email addresses have been provided.  We do so hope that you will give serious consideration to our many concerns in regards to the safety and efficacy of both HPV vaccines.

That email was both a culmination and a beginning.

The submission of the paper culminated years of research, analysis, and educational advocacy by a group of dedicated volunteers lead by Cynthia Janak and ICAP co-founder, Leslie C. Botha.  The work was an international effort.  A  group of women – three from the United States, two from The Netherlands, one from the UK and one from Scotland spent two weeks coalescing years of research, examining FDA, CDC and Merck documents relating to Gardasil, compiling a factual report from their respective countries that documented concerns about the safety and efficacy of the HPV Vaccine.

Reports are titled:

Treatise on Gardasil from the United States;
United States Concern for Europe with regards to Cervarix HPV vaccine;
United Kingdom Concerns Regarding HPV-GM Vaccines;
The Dutch Cervarix Concerns;
and, One Mother’s Plea.

The successful submission of these reports to the thirteen scientists at the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) in Germany and to the German Health Minister was also a beginning. The reports represented the first educational advocacy project undertaken by the International Coalition of Advocates for the People. RKI is re-examining the safety of the HPV vaccine for use in their country. Their decision will be made in the next few weeks.

In previous posts I have mentioned Netherlands-based ICAP advocates, Janny Stokvis and Annelies Witlam who have worked tirelessly to support the HPV-vaccine education process in the Netherlands, the UK, EU Canada and Americ

ICAP’s first international effort has been a success. Seven women who became international advocates wrote a paper about HPV vaccines to educate all necessary parties in Europe.   This paper has been distributed throughout Europe and to select individuals in the United States.

Presently, thirteen German scientists from the Robert Koch Institute are questioning the effectiveness of these vaccines.  They are also asking for evidence now from the Standing Committee based on the scientists’ views.

Scotland now is questioning the vaccines over fears about the adverse reactions being reported in Scotland and England.

Also, in the UK leading scientists and doctors have raised fresh concerns about the safety of a cervical cancer vaccine.  They have accused the manufacturers of Cervarix and Gardasil, of making misleading claims.

I am proud to be counted amongst these seven women Advocates and a charter member of the International Coalition of Advocates For The People (ICAP).

Klachten over HPV-inenting Schotland

geplaatst: woensdag, 3 juni 2009, 8.54 uur Meer dan 150 Schotse meisjes hebben zich met klachten gemeld nadat zij afgelopen herfst waren ingeënt tegen enkele humane pappilomavirussen die baarmoederhalskanker zouden veroorzaken. Dat meldt The Scotsman. Tegenstanders van de vaccinatie hebben opgeroepen het inentingsprogramma te staken. Volgens hen zijn er te veel onbeantwoorde vragen over de veiligheid en de blijvende effectiviteit van het middel cervarix. Ook Nederlandse meisjes worden sinds januari met het middel ingeënt.

Volgens de krant hebben de ouders van zes Britse meisjes fabrikant GlaxoSmithKline voor de rechter gedaagd nadat zij ernstige klachten kregen waaronder verlammingsverschijnselen, toevallen en chronische vermoeidheid. Nog eens twee meisjes zouden zich bij een advocaat hebben gemeld wegens zeer pijnlijke zwellingen in de gewrichten.

De Schotse overheid en GlaxoSmithKline blijven erbij dat het aantal negatieve reacties overeenstemt met iedere massavaccinatie. Volgens The Scotsman is de bijsluiterinformatie voor de ouders na tussenkomst van een farmaceutisch bedrijf gewijzigd. Volgens critici was die informatie voor zowel ouders als medici vaag en misleidend. Schotse parlementariërs willen dat de gerezen vragen worden opgehelderd voordat nog meer meisjes worden ingeënt.

In Groot-Brittannië zijn in totaal rond 800.000 inentingen verricht. Sindsdien zijn 1.716 ‘verdachte’ reacties gemeld. In de ergste gevallen ging het om verlammingsverschijnselen en blindheid. Het is onduidelijk of de slachtoffers daarvan volledig zullen herstellen. Volgens tegenstanders zouden veel meer jonge vrouwen hebben geklaagd maar zouden hun klachten zijn toegeschreven aan angst voor vaccinatie. Zij wijzen erop dat het vaccin nog geen zeven jaar is getest. Daardoor is er geen enkel bewijs dat het vaccin op langere termijn effectief is en geen verdere bijwerkingen heeft. Tegenstanders spreken over een grootschalig “experiment” op burgers.

Volgens de fabrikant is het vaccin grondig getest. Hij bevestigt dat de inenting regelmatig leidt tot neveneffecten als hoofd- en spierpijn, rode uitslag en zwelling bij de plaats van inenting en vermoeidheid. Bij een kleiner aantal meisjes zou de inenting leiden tot buikklachten zoals misselijkheid, braken, diarree en buikpijn, jeuk, uitslag en koorts. Een nog kleiner aantal zou klagen over duizeligheid, luchtweginfecties en dufheid.

Bij de Britse gezondheidsdienst zijn ook klachten gemeld als allergische reacties, bewusteloosheid en flauwtes.

In Nederland worden klachten van overheidswege al snel afgedaan als ‘onbewezen’. Critici wordt ‘bangmakerij’ verweten. Daarmee zouden zij de volksgezondheid in gevaar brengen. Verschillende media, waaronder Trouw en het tv-programma Radar hebben zeer kritisch bericht over de HPV-vaccinatie. (KN)

My associate from the Netherlands, women and children’s health advocate, Janny Stokvis sent me a resent analysis of the UK adverse reactions figures.  I wanted to share them with my Inconvenient Women readers.  The toll of illness and death amongst girls and young women who have received HPV-Vaccinations continues to rise… and our “representative  governments” continue to ignore the pleas and questions of the families affected by a public health policy that increasingly seems flawed at best, and at worst, corrupted by the power of Pharma’s lobbyists’ influence.

All any of us, who have raised questions about the rapid deployment of the HPV vaccines, Gadasil and Cervarix, have ever wanted, is an objective review of the clinic trial information by scientist not related to Big Pharma. In Germany, the Robert Koch Institute is in that process right now.  The question American, Canadian, and other EU citizens are asking is, “Why are our own governmental agencies and regulators so against a similar objective review of the clinic trial information  and independent medical review of the thousands of reported HPV-vaccine adverse effect cases?  Is the no “Robert Koch Institute-like” organization that can ask the questions for our citizens?”

Scores of girls have died or lie critically ill. The families of the sick and stricken girls have a right to be respected and represented by their elected officials. Every parent has the right to ask questions and expect honest answers about any chemical that the “State” decrees be inject into our children. Government officials are playing dice with a generation of our children.

All we ask is to educate before you vaccinate. That is not a radical request; it is only common sense.
Our children are too precious to risk in a rush to profit by the pharmaceutical industrial complex.
